Over 5-7 October, the operation Cho’Cottage too place at the Orangerie de la Manufacture de Sèvres. This was conceived, crafted and brought to fruition by leading consultancy, having developed an expertise in online booking for the last 4 years, Euros / Agency. Two families were lucky enough to book an exceptional night via Booking.com to stay in the first 100% chocolate accommodation, as provided by famous chocolate sculptor Jean-Luc Decluzeau. With this chocolate cottage – the only one ever created to be viable for residing in – Booking.com let shine its mission in offering an increasingly-incredible experience to travellers from all over the world.

This major endeavour was tackled head on by master chocolatier Jean-Luc Decluzeau, who took on the challenge of building ChoCo’ttage – the first all-chocolate cottage available on the Booking.com platform. An apt task for Mr Decluzeau who is renowned for his chocolate artistry that has been pushing creative boundaries for more than 30 years.

Aesthetically, Jean-Luc Decluzeau was inspired by his skiing holidays and personal travels in order to create a uniquely immersive experience, under the glass roof of L’Orangerie Ephémère, in the heart of the gardens of the Cité de la céramique de Sèvres. This location was specifically chosen so as to give visitors the feeling of being in the middle of the forest should they look out the windows.

AN UNPRECEDENTED OPERATION

Chandelier, clock, fireplace, sink, china cabinet… Nothing was left to chance by the master chocolatier who used no less than 1.5 tonnes of chocolate, provided by the Musée du Chocolat de Colmar, to build the 18m2, 100% delicious accommodation. The craftsmanship also extended to outside the house, where Jean-Luc Decluzeau designed a garden surrounding the chalet: green grass, white chocolate duck pond, jardiniere with flowers in coloured sugar and chocolate. This unique project required nearly 600 hours of work over a 5-month period.

Booking.com, a world leader in connecting travellers with the widest choice of accommodation, first opened up ChoCo’ttage for booking on its platform. Among the hundreds of families who applied for this unique experience, two had the immense privilege of spending a night there over October 5 and 6. The platform then invited the public to visit this gourmet work of art on Sunday, October 7. Following this unforgettable weekend, ChoCo’ttage was dismantled and transported to the Chocolate Museum in Colmar, where it will be reassembled for exhibition. Those who did not have the chance to attend this world premiere will therefore have the opportunity to discover this unique building there as of March 2019.

ONE OF BOOKING.COM’S BIGGEST COMMS INTERNATIONAL SUCCESSES

The aim of this feat was to highlight Booking.com’s leadership in the world of offering increasingly-incredible reservations to travellers from all over the world from its platform. This was an operation which paid off as ChoCo’ttage is Booking.com’s biggest success in terms of media (including social) visibility since the company was founded 13 years ago. Published in more than 43 languages, this “made in France” project generated more than 700 media outlets worldwide to date.

Euros / Agency, which has been advising Booking.com for more than 4 years in its communication and institutional relations, has supported this world leader in hosting reservations online, in the design, implementation and media coverage of this world first. The Brand department of the agency behind this stunt used a study according to which chocolate would be the most comforting food to offer the two selected families an exceptional night enrobed in delicacy and wellness.
